Job Description:

Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment in commercial buildings. Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.

  • Commercial building HVAC experience.
  • Inspect and perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.
  • Use test equipment
  • Diagnose defects
  • Repair or replace defective parts in units, equipment and their controls
  • Must own and safely operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • Test and examine boiler operations, observing meter and pressure gauges, conduct boiler water quality testing
  • Bid preparation
  • Maintain records concerning time, labor and materials; include tasks performed and written work notes
  • Requires knowledge of standard practices of the HVAC trade and theory of HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Includes knowledge on the proper handling and disposal of refrigerants
  • Experience working with heat pumps and cooling towers
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work outside and on roof tops in heat and cold
  • Requires bending, squatting, sitting, climbing, crawling and walking
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
  • Proactive communication with teammates and clients
  • Ability to proficiently use cell phone, including camera and text
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in inclement weather
  • Possess Boiler License “Special” category or above
  • Possess Universal (EPA) Refrigeration Certification

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience with commercial HVAC equipment
  • Diploma/Degree in HVAC repair
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams
  • Know the functions of a volt ohm meter for diagnostics of HVAC and electrical systems.

  • Boilers License and/or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Customer relation skills are essential
